What are your practice hours?

Our practice hours are Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 17:00 with a lunch break from 13:00 to 14:00. Fridays, we are open from 08:00 to 14:00, and on Saturdays, we are open from 09:00 to 12:00 (2 Saturdays a month).

What should I do if my child becomes unwell suddenly?

During office hours, call our rooms, and we will try to accommodate your needs with an urgent appointment. If this is not possible, you will be directed to the emergency room for further evaluation. The emergency room doctor will call Dr Atkins to discuss your case if needed. If the emergency occurs after hours, visit the emergency room directly and without delay.

What fees do you charge?

Dr Atkins is contracted to the majority of the medical aids, so we do not charge co-payments but only the medical aid rates. Dr Atkins will charge a co-payment for certain funds, which will be communicated to you during the booking procedure.

We provide cash discounts to patients paying in notes, and card machine facilities are available for those who wish to pay by credit or debit card. Please note that an additional fee may be charged for unscheduled or emergency visits, procedures & repeat prescriptions

Can I make enquiries through social media?

While we do make use of social media, certain ethical and safety concerns prohibit the use of social media in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. You are more than welcome to make use of our social media platforms for enquiries, but bear in mind that these functions are NOT for emergencies. If Dr Atkins feels that your enquiry is complex or of a certain nature, you will be asked to book an appointment. No new patients will be assessed on social media, and a full consultation will be needed. Certain questions and enquiries will only be addressed on a follow-up basis if a prior consultation was recent and the queries are related to this consultation.

What are routine visits, and why are they important?

Routine visits are regular check-ups with Dr Atkins to monitor your child’s growth and development, assess their overall health, and identify any potential health concerns early on. These visits are important to maintain your child’s health and wellbeing and to ensure that they receive timely medical attention if needed.
